Who does not want to look good? We all want to be the best versions of ourselves when we interact with others. But oftentimes we are mired with concerns around time and money. Usually, it seems like one needs to spend a good amount of time and a lot of money to look properly groomed. But in this article, we will cover some grooming and personal hygiene tips which will not cost you much of your time or money.

All of us follow different regimes to take care of ourselves – some want to get up early and go jogging, others may be very particular about ironing their clothes, while few others may be more into proper hair and nail care.

But for comprehensive grooming, we need to develop proper grooming and personal hygiene regime, and then need to follow them diligently. At the same time, we need to ensure that our grooming regime remains light on our time and money.

So let’s start with some common grooming tips for both women and men.

Most of you must be taking showers daily, but still, we need to discuss it. Bathing daily not only keeps one’s body clean but also keeps one’s mind fresh and energetic. Also, don’t ignore your skin and hair in a rush. Dead skin if not removed by timely showers can settle on your body and be the cause of illness. Similarly, dirty hair leads to dandruff and a bad smell.

Trim your nails

Brushing teeth is as important as keeping other body parts clean. Bad breath can force people to ignore you. It is recommended to brush your teeth twice a day and floss your teeth after every meal. Brushing reduces the accumulation of bacteria in the mouth and decreases the risk of tooth decay. It is advisable to at least take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Poor sleeping habits can cause problems like irritation, insomnia, stress, etc. Proper sleep hygiene can prevent the formation of dark circles and will also keep your skin healthy and glowing. Lack of sleep can compromise the body’s defense system and also affect immunity. 

Use perfume for a pleasant body smell

Often people smell bad because of sweating. Daily shower reduces the bad body odor, and it can also be kept under control by perfume or deodorant. Make sure not to use very strong perfume as it can lead to headaches for some people – mild perfumes with pleasant smells are good.

It is important to take care of your health. Make sure you exercise regularly and give your body enough time for relaxation. Stretching gives your body time to breathe and rejuvenate. It also releases happy hormones which in return keep your mood cheerful.

Follow a skincare routine

Humans have a tendency to ignore things till they become a necessity – our skin is a good example as we usually fail to follow a skincare routine till we see some problem with our skin. 

If you don’t have a skincare routine yet, make sure you start following one. 

Always wash your face twice a day with your favorite face wash and use a good moisturizer as per your skin (dry, oily, etc). Night creams have proven to be very beneficial, hence involve them in your routine. As we have discussed earlier, lack of sleep can lead to dark circles and other skin problems. Make a timetable for your skin and follow it consistently. Drink lots of water as it keeps your skin hydrated and glowing. 

Use makeup as per your skin tone and occasion

Who does not love nice makeup and touch? It gives a good glow to the face. But don’t overdo the makeup, keep it accordingly to your skin tone. Try to use hydrating makeup products which do not leave skin rough and patchy. Use lipsticks of neutral colors as per the occasion. Light makeup is suggested for working professionals. But, if you are going to a party then bring out those smokey eyes and vibrant lip colors. 

Maintain your hairstyle

Hairstyle is one of the most important parts of one’s grooming. Frizzy hair like shocking waves will lower your impression, therefore, it is important to follow a healthy hair regime. Use shampoo as per your hair type and apply conditioners and serums for soft hair.

Don’t overuse straighteners or other electric machines as it causes frizzy hair.  If possible go for monthly hair spas for fluffy and bouncy hair. It also strengthens your scalp and makes your hair healthy. 

Get rid of unwanted body hair

One should make sure to take care of unwanted hair before pulling out a stylish short or sleeveless dress. Unwanted hair may leave a bad impression on people as it questions one’s personal hygiene habits. Occasionally get your eyebrows and upper lips done. You can also go for waxing or use hair removal creams as per your skin type.

Wear contemporary and comfortable footwear

Clothes definitely leave a first impression but so does your footwear. You should always wear footwear you are comfortable walking in and at the same time if the footwear is contemporary to the latest trend it gives your personality an extra boost.

Daily usage of high heels can hurt your ankles in the long run. If you are going out for a walk, wear shoes. Keep your footwear clean as dirty ones lead to bad smells and impressions.

An uneven beard or mustache can dull the overall personality of a man. Therefore, it is advised to trim your beard or shave properly as per the need.

Make sure your beard is nicely shaped and shaved. If you can’t do it at home with the trimmer, then you can visit the man’s saloon for professional help.  Shave down the extras so to intensify the overall look. Use after-shave gels to keep your skin hydrated.

Moisturize your skin regularly

The man usually ignores moisturizing their skin, maybe because of time restrictions. But it is essential to keep your skin moisturized and hydrated. As dry skin can lead to irritation or skin marks. Apply moisturizer first thing after bathing. Use the products as per your skin type.

Timely haircut

Make sure you get yourself a timely haircut. With a one-time help – ask a professional what kind of hairstyle will suit you.

If you have long hair then make a pony while you are at the office to follow office etiquette or use a proper hair band to tie your hair. It is advised to use hair products as per the hair type so as to avoid hair fall and dandruff.
